Wholesale Prices Reach Lowest Level in Six Months Featured

Wholesale used vehicle prices (on a mix-, mileage-, and seasonally adjusted basis) decreased 0.74 percent month-over-month in January. This brought the Manheim Used Vehicle Value Index to 131, which was the lowest level since last July. It was a 4.9 percent increase from a year ago.On a year-over-year basis, all major market segments except midsize cars saw gains. Luxury cars, pickups, and vans outperformed the overall market.The average price for rental risk units sold at auction in January was up 1 percent year-over-year. Rental risk prices were up 1 percent compared to December. Average mileage for rental risk units in January (at 44,600 miles) was 4 percent above a year ago.
