The NIADA Foundation has established an emergency relief fund to provide a venue for members of the National Independent Automobile Dealers Association to assist fellow dealers and others in the automotive community devastated by the effects of Hurricane Harvey.
All contributions received will be donated to provide relief from the effects of flooding, help repair property damage and assist with other disaster-related needs attributable to the catastrophic weather event that struck Houston and other areas along the Texas coast.
The foundation's goal is to raise $100,000 for the fund.
Donations will be made in collaboration with the Texas IADA – NIADA's state affiliate – and will be considered on a case-by-case basis as identified through the collaborative disbursement relationship.

Attorney Tom Hudson of Hudson Cook LLC has been selected as the newest member of the National Independent Automobile Dealers Association’s Ring of Honor.
Hudson became the 29th auto industry leader to be inducted into the Ring of Honor, NIADA’s highest award for non-dealers.
NIADA’s Ring of Honor recognizes allied industry leaders who have contributed to the professionalism and growth of the automobile industry through outstanding performance and leadership. Hudson's career spans more than four decades, from a start-up law practice in 1973 to becoming a founding partner of a firm, a CEO and editor of a service that reports on legal issues in the auto finance and lease industry, among other roles.
As an author, he's written the Carlaw series and other books as well as numerous articles and as editor in chief of Counselor Library.
Matthews Motors, a family-owned and operated dealership whose charitable efforts have made a huge impact in Clayton, N.C., has been named the recipient of the 2017 NIADA and Cox Automotive Community Service Award.
Matthews Motors owners Steve and Dale Matthews accepted the award from Cox Automotive president of inventory solutions Janet Barnard during the National Leadership Awards banquet at the recent National Independent Automobile Dealers Association convention in Las Vegas.
The award, which recognizes an independent dealership for outstanding contributions to its community and the innovative ways it collaborates with community partners to help further their missions, includes a $10,000 donation from Cox Automotive to Clayton Area Ministries, the dealership's charity of choice. Clayton Area Ministries provides food, medicine and assistance with utility bills to area residents in need.
Matthews Motors has embraced philanthropy and volunteerism since it opened in 1994, supporting more than 15 local charities and youth programs in the past year alone.
Over the past two years, the dealership has raised more than $70,000 for Clayton Area Ministries, and joined with other area businesses to raise more than $10,000 for the Southeastern Medical Oncology Center’s free mammogram screening program.
Team members have volunteered their time to support the Johnston County Teen Drivers safety initiative, the Johnston County Education Foundation, the Johnston County Crisis Center, Toys for Tots, the American Red Cross and Harbor Inc., a shelter for domestic violence victims.
The dealership serves as a drop-off location during winter coat drives benefitting needy kids, and helps local families meet their children’s school supply needs. In addition, Matthews serves on the board of the Johnston County Education Foundation.
Five young men and women were named as the recipients of the National Independent Automobile Dealers Association's 2017 Scholarship Awards during the 71st Annual NIADA Convention and Expo at The Mirage in Las Vegas.
Logan Brinks of Marne, Mich., earned NIADA's scholarship from Region I, joining Braden G. Martin of Nashville, Tenn. (Region II), Riley J. Raynor of Enid, Okla. (Region III) and Juan Carrillo of Oxnard, Calif. (Region IV) as winners of NIADA's regional scholarships.
Each year, the NIADA Foundation sponsors a student who has displayed outstanding abilities in education from each of the association's four regions across the nation with a $3,500 scholarship to the college or university of his or her choice, thanks to the assistance of Manheim. The foundation and Manheim also award a $10,000 national scholarship each year for an outstanding student to attend or continue his or her education at Northwood University in an automotive-related field.
All students' entries are judged by Northwood University.
The National Independent Automobile Dealers Association has launched an enhancement to its certified pre-owned program, powered by eBay Motors.
This strengthened CPO program gives more power to dealers who manage listings on eBay Motors by providing tools that efficiently export CPO inventory to third-party digital marketing auto portals, including dealers' own websites.
It also allows them to process and print standardized buyers guides and window labels.
The program also provides trend data on what is selling.
