EX-GM Gets 2 Years For Stealing Half A Million From Store Featured

The former general manager of a Pennsylvania Chevrolet store has been sentenced in federal court to two years in jail and ordered to pay $485,800 in restitution on his conviction of conspiracy to commit wire fraud.

According to information presented to the court, Douglas A. Grooms embezzled money from Community Chevrolet in Meadville from June 2008 to September 2013 while employed as the store's general manager.

Grooms would write dealership checks to a fictitious marketing company, which he set up solely for the purpose of receiving the checks, resulting in a loss of $485,800 to Community Chevrolet.
